Astronomy Benalla Viewing Report - 6th September 2014 Date 6th September 2014 Location Baddaginnie Reserve Report By John Whitehead Following a late night or early morning, whichever way you view it from 0200 hrs was packing up time for john on  Saturday morning following a excellent nights viewing from the front lawn in Barkly street. Moon photos of excellent  quality taken. Arrival at the grounds showed good works the keys all fitted and rooms opened, telescopes set up after the cows were  chased away. We had Martin, Gary, Patrick and john in attendance a poor attendance but we had good seeing and  excellent views of deep sky objects as well as local planets Mars, Saturn. A full nights viewing was had till the cold got  into Gary’s bones and a flat battery stoped our viewing at around 2230 hrs we could of continued if it wasn’t for fogging  of the refractor that we hadn’t worked out how to mount a fan. It was noted the Newtonian didn’t show any sign of due  which had its fans running all through the night. It was noted Patricks Newtonian functioned well being freshly  collimated. Both johns Newtonians freshly collimated performed excellent with images of Saturn being sharp and poles of Mars  being seen. No astrophotography was carried out sadly equipment problem being the trouble a 10 meter long USB  cable faulty. John.
