About Astronomy Benalla
Astronomy Benalla (Inc.) was formed in 2010 to promote the interest and
enjoyment of amateur astronomy.
Through our activities and services, we seek to foster safe and enjoyable
learning experiences while encouraging the interest and involvement of the
wider community of Benalla and district. We have a strong tradition of
community engagement providing regular viewing sessions for the general
public and local community groups.
A diverse group with a passion for experiencing the wonders of the universe
beyond our home planet, our membership interests include focusing on the
best view our telescopes can provide, the best images our telescopes can record,
and building our knowledge of Astronomy.
Meetings are held at 7:30pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the
Hockey Club Rooms, Churchill Memorial Reserve. They consist of a short
business meeting followed by Guest or Member presentations.
Each month 2 public viewing sessions are attempted*. A Moon Viewing night
at the Showgrounds, and a Deep Sky night at our dark sky site at
the Observation Pad, Winton Wetlands.
A schedule of the meeting and viewing sessions over the next month
is provided in the panel on the left of this page. More detailed calendar,
information, directions and the status of our activities is provided on our
Events Page (see the menu bar above). Please refer to it for the status of
